Meet the Teacher:
My name is Krista Smith, and I am the Music teacher at Vial. This is my second year as a Viking, and I am loving every minute of it! I graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana with a bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Education in May of 2020, and I completed my Kodály certification at Lamar University in the summer of 2021.
My husband and I live in Mesquite, TX, and we love to read, cook, go hiking, and play music together. We spend a lot of time either outside or watching Netflix!

My philosophy of education is that all students deserve a quality Music Education that brings joy, teaches discipline, creates a love of the arts, and produces well-rounded people. It is my hope that by teaching music to your children, I will instill a sense of pride in all things they accomplish and a responsibility to work hard at everything they wish to pursue.
